Cabbage Tree

Cabbage Tree is a NZ classic and a good addition to any revegetation project.

It has a very strong tap root which makes it excellent at stabilsing erosion prone areas.

It's natural habitat is in damp and swamp ground but you'll see it growing well on hillsides naturally too.

It has beautiful flowers in spring and an abundance of berries in autumn which birds feed on.

It is a hardy plant but can be slow to establish with competing grass and you need to be careful not to spray it when releasing weeds.  Once established it grows fast and provides some real difference in any planting.
