Wineberry (Makomako)
Wineberry is an aggressive colonising plant and in the right conditions will grow strongly to provide you excellent cover along with the rest of your species.
It favours damper conditions and really thrives in margins alongside swamps and streams.
Wineberry gets it's name from the small berries it has in autumn, after producing a profuse amount of flowers in spring.
Because of it's fast growing habit and fruiting it is excellent for attracting birds and quickly establishing both cover and a long term forest.
Definitely one to include for wetland and stream side plantings
